Last week, year 5 started their 4th mini mission of the year – The Yorkes.

The Yorkes are the family who lived at Erddig Hall in Wrexham and eventually gave the house to the National Trust.

Building upon our previous knowledge of the Victorians from our Little Princess mission last year, the children have already gained a clearer insight into the jobs and hierarchy of servants, in addition to the many inventions/discoveries the Victorians achieved. They have already been able to distinguish the difference between how other families treated their servants compared to the Yorkes.

Yesterday, this mini mission was brought to life with our Erddig Hall trip. They got to experience some of the jobs and customs the servants would do at Christmas time. A good time was had by all and they were even blessed with a surprise visit from Santa!

The children were a credit to you all and did the school proud with their enthusiasm, manners and behaviour throughout the day.

Many thanks to you all for supporting us with this, particularly with the dress up – the children looked fabulous!
