Year 4 enjoy Roman experience!

In our final week of half term, all of Year 4 went to Chester for a Roman experience day.

Our day began at the Grosvenor Museum in Chester where we went to a Roman workshop which had many artefacts and different zones about Roman life. The children learned about the Roman kitchen, bath houses and buildings where they could interact with artefacts and even dress up!

This was a wall that showed us the history of what lies under the Chester pavements. We learned that a Roman fortress has been built here alongside the River Dee.

Next we met a Roman soldier to took us to the amphitheater to train, wearing our shields and armor. We had formations training and learned how to use teamwork to defend and defeat enemies.

The children had a brilliant day and we used our new learning to write letters home as if we were a Roman soldier, describing what life was like.
