Sports, Google Expeditions and Forest School
KS1 Sports Day
Well done to all the KS1 children who took part in Sports day to earn team points for their house. The competition was made up of a variety of track and field events including, javelin, target throw, 100m sprints, 50m sprints, 50m hurdles, a team relay and good old egg and spoon! The winning team was Ericsson with 436 points followed by Drake in second place with 379 points, closely followed by Columbus with 368 points. There was a lovely atmosphere and we were very proud of all the children.
A group of Year 2 children also took part and WON an inter-school athletics competition this week! This is the second year in a row that Ellesmere Primary School has won this competition and we are already in training for next year!
This week we spent Friday morning in the larger forest school site at the back of the school. The children loved exploring the area and some boys rolled big logs into position to make a stepping log circle. They also enjoyed the rope swing and making and wearing forest crowns.
This week a team from Google expeditions came to school to take the children on a virtual tour of the Moon, Everest and under the sea. The children used virtual reality viewers to explore a fantastic virtual world. All we could hear was “WOW!”
