A busy week in Year 5!
Year 5 have been working so hard these past few weeks!
In Maths we have been focusing on addition and subtraction and looking at various methods we can use to effectively solve different calculations. Earlier this week, we completed a maths investigation based on planning a holiday. The children had to add together the flights, accommodation, activities and restaurants and work towards a budget. The children really enjoyed the activity and they really tried to challenge themselves.
In English we have been looking at the true story of Philippe Petit, a Frenchman who in 1974 walked between the World Trade Centres in New York on a tight rope. We loved the story that much that we continued our work on the story by writing newspaper reports on the events. Check out some of the work below.
We can’t believe we only have one more week left until half-term! We have a very busy week next week as next Wednesday we are heading to the theatre to watch Awful Auntie. On Thursday we have a parent’s open afternoon and the children have been busy preparing their Roman PowerPoint to present to you all. Next Friday afternoon is ‘Good to be Green’ and the children will be having an arts and crafts afternoon as their reward.
