Autumn has arrived!
We took advantage this week of some sunny Autumn days to look for signs of Autumn around our school grounds. We found lots of beautiful leaves on our Autumn Treasure Hunt which have given us plenty of opportunities to talk about colour. We made leaf sun-catchers and ‘dotty’ leaves in autumn colours which not only provided us with a chance to practice our fine motor skills but also to decorate our Nursery classroom with lots of autumn leaves. We brought our treasures back to Nursery to look at more closely.
The Very Busy Squirrel
The children are enjoying our story “The Busy Little Squirrel”. Look at some of the stories they have made.
Next week we will be continuing our Autumn activities based around the story. We are also getting very excited about our very first Forest School session of the new term. Get your wellies ready, Nursery children!
Ready, Steady . . . Bake!
On Tuesday we started our cooking sessions. The children had lots of fun baking two Dutch Apple Cakes which we all enjoyed tasting! We used some freshly picked, rosy and sweet autumn apples. Thank you to our ‘Chefs of the Week’ – the cake was delicious
This week some of the children helped to make a reading area in our Nursery garden. We called it our “Book Nook”! A renovated pallet made a super book shelf and the area has proved to be very popular, especially with our boys! We love reading outdoors!
Star of the Week
Don’t forget to come and join us for our Story Share on Friday morning, 5th October at 9am. We will be reading the story “Little Red Hen” and providing some activities for parents and children to share, based around the book. You will even be able to bake your own bread. We hope to see you then!
