Yesterday, the year 3 children took to the streets of Ellesmere with ‘Road Safety Ray’ and participated in a ‘Stepping out’ programme. Ray taught us all we need to know to be safe crossing the roads. We now feel safe and ready to become more independent

Children have definitely ‘Dressed to Express’ in school today to link in with Children’s Mental Health Week!

Year 2 finishing off their science mini-mission with snow people and melting experiments.

Today we challenged the year 3 children at home and in the hub to create the best snowman, we were impressed with their creativity and teamwork.

“Freddie’s face beams when he sees his classmates. Lockdown can be difficult… to have that individual attention means everything.”

In Forest School Donaldson class read one of their advent stories ‘Pick a Pine Tree’. They spotted some pine trees in the forest and decorated them, they had to be careful as they were prickly! Their forest looked very festive afterwards! ????

Reception/Year 1’s story of the week has been ‘Tom and the Island of Dinosaurs’ which they have absolutely loved! The children were excited to find a letter in a bottle just like the one Katy had sent. They wrote letters back to Katy asking her questions to help them find out where she was.
The children have also enjoyed drawing their own maps to show the way to forest school, including a key. They followed their maps when they went to forest school to check if they had drawn them correctly.

In Forest School, Mrs Griffiths lit a fire and taught the children how to stay safe around fire. The children sharpened their own willow sticks and cooked some dough on the fire. They were extremely sensible and made me very proud.

Morpurgo Class received some exciting post when they discovered that the first letters had arrived from their pen pals in France. Morpurgo Class couldn’t wait to reply, they wrote some impressive letters back telling their new friends about themselves in French.

We have been focusing on Anti bullying this week, we started by wearing our odd socks with pride, we have looked at how to stay safe online and how to interact with others responsibly. We have looked at the qualities of a good friend and we rounded off the week with a visit from Reverend Pat, who talked to us about Christianity and allowed us the opportunity to make links between the religions we have studied during our current mini mission.
