Year 5 – Marvellous Medieval Medicine
Year 5 were treated to a wonderful display of artefacts to show medical procedures through the ages.
On Thursday, the wonderful Kevin Goodman came into school to share with us his extensive collection of medieval artefacts. This provided an excellent start to our term’s topic – Medicine through the ages.
The children were able to see first hand what equipment was used in the process of trepanning (the removal of parts of the skull to stop a headache!), amputation to solve an aching limb and even a leech to treat blood problems.
The children thoroughly enjoyed their sessions and Kevin was blown away by the children’s knowledge on the subject.
