Year 5 – ‘Istanbul’ and ‘Moscow’

Homework

Children will continue to receive weekly homework. This will be set on a Friday and will consist of a spelling list, a piece of additional English work and a maths activity. Please help your child to be prepared and give them a prompt to ensure they have their Homework Diary on the required day. This term, the hand in day has been changed to Thursday in order to allow those attending homework club to complete the tasks in time.

Keep encouraging your child to read daily and record their progress in their reading records. It is essential in both developing fluency and expression. The school is continuing to promote this through our termly prize draw where four children will be given the opportunity to attend Bookers in Oswestry and can choose a book, a cake and drink with our Deputy Head teacher, Miss Massey. Children will receive a raffle ticket a week if they have their reading record signed five times so get signing! All pupils should now be confident with all their times tables so should challenge themselves on TimesTable Rockstars to be the best pop star they can! Please contact us if there are any problems accessing the site or logging in. Another good site to use in the meantime is Hit the Button as it requires no login.

Swimming & PE

Istanbul and Moscow will have swimming on Tuesdays. Both classes have outdoor PE two days a week, Moscow Thursday and Friday and Istanbul Monday and Thursday. Children should take responsibility for ensuring they have the required kit in school. It is suggested that children with earrings leave them out for that day or cover with tape if unable.

Water bottles

Children are allowed to have water bottles in class as it is good for them to keep hydrated throughout the day. However, they should only contain water: no juice please!

If you have any questions please do not hesitate in coming in to speak to us. Many thanks for your continued support.
