This week in Year 1, we have focused our learning around Remembrance Day.

In topic, children have been finding out more information about the war by asking a variety of questions. We have used the book ‘Where the Poppies Now Grow‘ by Hilary Robinson and Martin Impey, as a hook for our work.

In English this week, we have used the poem ‘Poppy, Poppy’ as our stimulus. Children have written their own rhyming response sentences, and created their own version of ‘Poppy, Poppy’.

In Maths, children have been focusing on their number knowledge. Our objective throughout the week has been to be able to read, write and count numbers 0-50.
